Growing up, AJ was a quiet girl who tried to act “normal” when she felt something else. While her family struggled with substance abuse, poverty and mental illness, she found a way to escape through comics and video games. She was inspired by difficult and unconventional female characters. Only after discovering professional wrestling did she learn that superheroes could be real.
Determined to become the superhero she had always admired, AJ trained and sacrificed herself for years to realize her dream of professional wrestling. However, she must quickly face the pressure of the industry to play the role of the damsel in distress and to dress more provocatively to satisfy male fans. But she retaliated and created an alter ego that gives buttocks and is a true representation of herself: nerdy, enthusiastic and a little crazy.
With humor and a wonderful heart, AJ for the first time tackles her heartbreaking struggle to understand her demons and the diagnosis of mental illness that helped her take control of her life. What most people see as an ordeal, AJ is an inspiration for his superhero character, breaking the stigma of mental illness.
